Directive 2001/25/EC

Directive 2001/25/EC of 4 April 2001 on the minimum level of training has substancially amended Council Directive 94/58/EC.

It is essential to define a minimum level of training for seafarers in the Community. This should be based on standards of training already agreed at international level. Member States may establish higher standards than the minimum ones laid down by this Directive.
